Winter Reminders
- To Assist in snow
removal, please remember to move your vehicles into plowed areas so that
the contractors can service your parking area and roadways.
- If you are leaving your unit for any period of
time longer than 24 hours, make sure that your thermostat is set to no
lower than 60 degrees. This will
prevent pipes from freezing. The
Unit Owner will be held liable for any damage caused to the unit or
neighboring units/common areas by frozen pipes that burst.
- The walkways can be very slippery during the
winter, so please use extreme caution.
- Please keep all walkways, stairs and hallways
clear of bicycles, toys, etc. at all times so that the contractors can
properly treat the areas.
- Your water hoses should all have been
disconnected from the outside faucets by December 1st. and the
water spigots winterized.
- Faucets should be checked in the morning and
evening to make sure water is free-flowing.
- Pipes under sink cabinets in kitchens and
bathrooms OR that run along outside walls are particularly vulnerable to
freezing. The cabinet doors should
be left open to allow ambient heat to enter.
- At least one inside faucet should drip lukewarm
water so that the water in both the hot and cold lines is kept moving.
Basic Annual Reminders
- Water heaters should be checked Annually and replaced when necessary. Water heaters typically carry a life of
8-10 years. When you have the water
heater replaced, make sure that they come with a drip pan and an automatic
shut off sensor, which will shut the water heater down in the event that
it begins to leak.
- Furnace filters should be changed at least once
a year.
- Batteries in smoke detectors should be changed
every six months. A good way to
remember this is to change the batteries when daylight savings comes
around.
By following these simple
exercises, your dwelling will be safer for you and everyone in your community
as well as help to keep things running smoothly.
Thank you,
The Concord Group
